What information do I collect?

When you engage with Talk Through It, I may ask for personal information when you: contact me or register for an event.
This information may include:

  • Your name, postal address, email address and telephone number (done online, on paper or in person). I may also request information on your availability, and other details which I deem relevant to processing your request.
  • Financial data (such as bank account details provided by you for the purpose of payment for sessions).
  • A record of the invoices I have sent you regarding payments.

    I will not store personal information for any longer than is necessary and will ensure that it is destroyed safely and responsibly when no longer in-use. Please get in touch if you would like to change the personal details that I hold about you.


  • What do I use your information for?

    I use information held about you in the following ways:

  • To provide you with the solution-focused therapy service requested .
  • To arrange appointments and to notify you about changes to your appointments.
  • To seek feedback from you on your experience of therapy with me.


  • What information do I share?

    I will not share any information about you with other organisations or people, except in the following situations:

  • Consent – I may share your information with professional carers or others whom you have requested or agreed we should contact.
  • Serious harm – I may share your information with the relevant authorities if I have reason to believe that this may prevent serious harm being caused to you or another person.
  • Compliance with law – I may share your information where I am required to by law or by the regulations and other rules to which I am subject.


  • How do I keep your information safe?

    All information you provide to me is stored as securely as possible. All paper forms and correspondence are kept in locked filing cabinets. All electronic records are stored on my computer server. All access to which requires password-protected authentication, or by reputable service providers using secure internet ‘cloud’ technology.

    Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is never completely secure. Although I will do my best to protect your information using industry-standard protocols and encryption, I cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to us via email, including forms completed on the website which are transmitted by email; any transmission is at your own risk.

    Client notes and other documentation are destroyed 6 years after the end of the sessions. Any enquiries for sessions that do not result in session take-up will be destroyed after two weeks.


    Your Rights

    Under data protection law, you have rights I need to make you aware of. Your rights are as follows:

  • to ask whether or not I am using or storing your personal information. You can also ask them for copies of your personal information, verbally or in writing. There are some exemptions, which means you may not always receive all the information we process.
  • to ask me to correct any information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask me to complete information you think is incomplete.
  • to ask me to delete your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • to ask me to stop using your information in certain circumstances.
  • A right (in certain circumstances) to have a copy of your personal information provided for reuse in another service.

    If I am processing your information for criminal law enforcement purposes, your rights are slightly different.


  • Please note:

    From time to time I may need to amend or update this policy, for example if there is a change in the way that I use personal information or because of updates to the law. You should periodically check this website to make sure that you have seen the most up to date version of this policy.
